Mrs. Parker decided to make vocabulary class a little more interesting.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday,\u201d she announced, writing on the board, \u201cI want you to name something that ends in \u2018-tor\u2019 and eats other things. Who wants to try?\u201d<\/p>\n
Little Timmy raised his hand first.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlligator!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cExcellent!\u201d Mrs. Parker said. \u201cAlligators certainly eat other animals.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sarah waved her hand excitedly.<\/p>\n
\u201cPredator!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWonderful! You\u2019re thinking like a scientist!\u201d<\/p>\n
Then Johnny slowly stood up, wearing a mischievous grin.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got one, teacher!\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs. Parker narrowed her eyes. \u201cAll right, Johnny. Let\u2019s hear it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny took a deep breath and proudly announced, \u201cMy answer is generator!\u201d<\/p>\n
The classroom went silent.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Parker blinked. \u201cA generator? Johnny, a generator doesn\u2019t eat anything!\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny shrugged innocently.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, my dad says Mom is a generator. She generates a shopping list, generates bills, and somehow eats all the food in the house!\u201d<\/p>\n
The entire class erupted in laughter.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Parker tried to maintain her composure.<\/p>\n
\u201cJohnny, I think your father needs to learn a little more about vocabulary!\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny nodded thoughtfully.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe, teacher. But Dad also says Mom is a refrigerator because she keeps everything cool until he does something stupid!\u201d<\/p>\n
That was it.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Parker turned toward the board, desperately trying not to laugh, while half the class nearly fell out of their chairs.<\/p>\n
Then Johnny added one final comment:<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd Dad says he\u2019s a dictator\u2014but Mom says he\u2019s just a guy who gives orders until dinner is served!\u201d<\/p>\n
The classroom exploded with laughter all over again.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Parker finally covered her face and sighed.<\/p>\n
\u201cJohnny, please sit down before you get your father invited to our next parent-teacher meeting!\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny grinned as he returned to his seat.<\/p>\n
